Introduction
EGS Bridge is a controller that allows a ZF 8HP transmission to run outside its original donor vehicle, with no physical modifications inside it — its stock EGS (TCU) remains the main control module.
In a factory BMW, the transmission expects a specific environment around it: the original ECU, sensors, vehicle systems and CAN messages. EGS Bridge recreates that environment. On one side, it communicates with the transmission using its native CAN protocol. On the other side, it connects to the target vehicle.
EGS Bridge provides the signals the transmission needs to operate correctly, including engine RPM, engine torque, vehicle speed, pedal position, brake status and more. To the transmission, the missing donor car still appears to be there.
Because the stock EGS remains in control, the transmission keeps the factory-engineered shift logic, shift feel, adaptation behavior and built-in safety protections.
